In the light of the latest news about MP's expenses, Lib Dem campaigner Amy Kitcher, has made a public pledge to the people of Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney ahead of the General Election.

Amy, 28, has said that , if elected to Parliament, she would not use the allowance available to MP's to pay for any mortgage payments, furniture, equipment for the home, Stamp Duty, repairs or food.

Amy said, "I will be standing in the next General Election to become the first ever woman to represent Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney in the Commons. I want to make it clear from the outset my promises to the electorate about MP's allowances.

Amy Kitcher would be the first ever women MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymeny

"When the election is called I will be writing to the other candidates, asking them to make these same promises too. Merthyr and Rhymney deserve to be represented by a hard-working MP who offers value for money; a public servant, in the truest sense."

It is clear that local councillor Amy Kitcher is the only challenger to Labour in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, and as yet Plaid Cymru and the Conservatives haven't selected candidates to stand in the up coming General Election.
