Merthyr Tydfil Lib Dems take on the 10:10 challenge12.00.00am GMT Wed 4th Nov 2009
Merthyr Lib Dems are proud to taking part a new environmental campaign called 10:10 and joining thousands of individuals and organisations from across the country committed to making a 10% cut in carbon emissions during 2010. Parliamentary spokesperson Amy Kitcher commented on the importance of taking action now against climate change. "It is no exaggeration to say that climate change is the greatest challenge facing us all in the 21st Century. As a local organisation we believe it is vital to minimise the impact we have on on local environment. Joining the 10:10 campaign allows us to take that commitment up a level and reduce our overall carbon footprint." The success of 10:10 depends on getting as many people as possible behind the initiative. 10:10 is a straightforward idea - we all work together to achieve a cut in the UK's carbon emissions in 2010. Reducing your carbon footprint isn't as hard as you'd think. It's all about making small lifestyle changes and being more conscious about the energy you use - such as making sure you turn off electrical items at night or using public transport more often. Remember 10:10 is about getting involved and doing what you can, every percent counts and any cut in emissions will be a success story! Climate change is a huge problem, but by uniting large numbers of people and institutions around immediate, effective and achievable action, 10:10 enables us all to make a difference.
