Independent and Labour councillors in Merthyr have denied there is any public concern about noise and dust at the Ffos-y-Fran opencast mine. This is despite many hundreds of local residents contacting the council or Miller Argent to complain about the effects of the mining activities.

Ffos-y-Fran Opencast Mine

Opencast mining does produce noise and dust

We believe the Council has a duty to protect it's residents from the worse effects of the opencast mining activities and as such we have called for the council to investigate what resources it would need to fully enforce planning conditions and monitor the dust and noise coming from the Ffos-y-Fran site.

Instead of backing the proposal, Labour and the Independents told us we would have to prove that people have any concerns.

So, if you are in anyway worried about dust and noise from Ffos-y-Fran, please sign our petition below to help us put pressure on the council to better protect all residents.
